Cancelled a booking and waiting for your refund? Here's how long it takes and what it depends on.
Refund times by payment method
| Payment method | Approximate refund time |
|---|---|
| Credit/debit card | 5-10 business days |
| BLIK | 1-3 business days |
| Przelewy24 | 3-5 business days |
These times are approximate - in practice it depends on your bank.
How it works step by step
A refund goes through three stages:
- Initiation - Booquela sends the refund request to Stripe. This happens immediately after cancellation (or the refund decision).
- Stripe processing - Stripe processes the request and sends the instruction to your bank. This usually takes 1-2 business days.
- Bank processing - Your bank credits the refund to your account. This is the longest stage and depends on your bank's procedures.
Where to check the status
- In the booking details (My Bookings tab) you'll see information about the initiated refund and its amount
- On your bank statement, the refund will appear as a credit from Stripe
- After the refund is initiated, you'll receive a confirmation email
What can extend the waiting time
- Weekends and holidays - banks don't process transactions on days off, so a refund initiated on Friday evening might not arrive until Tuesday or Wednesday
- Credit cards - refunds to credit cards take longer than debit cards because they go through additional settlement systems
- Foreign banks - if the card was issued outside Poland, the timeline may extend by an additional 2-3 days
What if the refund hasn't arrived after 10 business days?
If after 10 business days the money hasn't appeared in your account, first check your bank statement - sometimes refunds are posted under a different date. If you can't find it, contact us through the contact form with your booking number.
The refund always returns via the same method you paid with. It's not possible to redirect the refund to a different account.
