On Booquela, you cannot see the studio's rating and the studio cannot see yours - until both sides have written their reviews. We call this mechanism double-blind reviews, and it is one of the pillars of fair ratings on the platform.
How it works in practice
Imagine you just finished a photography session at "Creative Space" studio:
- After the visit ends, both you and the studio can submit reviews
- You write your opinion - the studio cannot see it
- The studio writes their opinion about you as a client - you cannot see it
- Only when both reviews are submitted do they become visible to both sides and publicly
If one side does not write a review within 14 days, the other side's review is published automatically.
Why this matters
Without this mechanism, ratings could be distorted:
- Retaliatory reviews - if you saw the studio gave you a low rating, you might "retaliate" with a negative review even if the visit was fine
- Self-censorship - knowing the studio sees your rating immediately, you might inflate stars out of concern for their reaction
- Pressure - the studio could try to influence your rating if they could see it before submitting theirs
When reviews become visible
| Situation | When published |
|---|---|
| Both sides submitted reviews | Immediately after the second review is sent |
| Only you submitted a review | After 14 days from session end |
| Only the studio submitted a review | After 14 days from session end |
| Nobody submitted a review | Not published |
Can the studio see my rating before it is published
No. Nobody - not the studio, not studio staff, not anyone else - has access to your review before its official publication. The system is designed so that both voices are completely independent.
What if I change my mind after seeing the studio's review
After publication, you have 48 hours to edit your review. However, remember that the goal is an honest assessment of your experience, not a reaction to the studio's opinion.
The double-blind review system is also used by other major platforms (e.g., Airbnb). Research shows that this approach leads to more honest and credible ratings.
