When you book a space on Booquela, the process can look slightly different depending on the studio's settings. Some studios confirm bookings instantly, others want to review them first.
Instant booking
This is the simplest mode. You select a date, hours, pay - and the booking is immediately confirmed. No need to wait for the owner's response.
This works well when:
- You need to secure a time slot quickly
- You're planning a standard session without special requirements
- You want certainty that the slot is yours
Approval required
In this mode, after submitting a booking, its status is pending. The studio owner reviews your booking and makes a decision.
What can happen:
- Owner approves - the status changes to "confirmed" and payment is charged
- Owner declines - you'll receive a notification and payment won't be charged
- Time runs out - if the owner doesn't respond within the set time, the booking expires
Studios choose this mode when they want control over what sessions take place in their space - for example, verifying that a project is compatible with the room's equipment.
How do I know which mode a studio uses?
The booking mode is shown on the room page, near the booking form. You'll see a note like "instant booking" or "requires approval".
What about payment with approval?
This depends on the studio's payment policy:
- With an "upfront" policy - your card is charged immediately. If the owner declines, you get a full refund
- With a "deferred" policy - your card is only authorised (funds held) until approval
If you're booking in approval mode, don't plan anything critical for the same hours until you receive confirmation. Owners usually respond within a few hours, but on weekends it may take longer.
What if I need a faster response?
Message the studio through the platform. You can mention that you need a quick confirmation - owners usually prioritise such requests.
