How to select a date and hours for your booking

How hourly booking works - selecting dates, hours, and what calendar colours mean.

Updated 19.02.2026

Booking on Booquela works hourly - you don't book an "entire day", just specific hours. This way you pay exactly for the time you need.

How it works in practice

Imagine you're planning a 3-hour photo shoot. On the room page you see a calendar - you click a date and a time grid appears below.

Colours in the time grid

  • Green - the hour is available, you can select it
  • Grey - booked (another reservation) or blocked by the studio
  • Selected - hours you've already chosen

You click 10:00, 11:00, and 12:00 in sequence - this means a booking from 10:00 to 13:00 (three full hours).

Limitations worth knowing about

Opening hours

Each studio sets its own working hours. You can't book hours outside those limits - if the studio is open from 9:00 to 20:00, a slot at 21:00 simply won't appear.

Minimum and maximum length

Some studios require a minimum booking - for example, at least 2 hours. Others may limit the maximum length of a single booking. You'll find this information on the room page.

Buffers between sessions

Studios often set short breaks between bookings (e.g., 15 or 30 minutes) for room preparation. You can't book these slots - this is intentional so that every client gets a room ready to work in.

What if my hour is greyed out?

A grey slot means the time is unavailable. It could be:

  • Another booking
  • A block set by the studio (e.g., maintenance break)
  • A buffer after a previous session

If you need a specific time that's taken, message the studio - they might be able to accommodate you.

Can I book across multiple days?

Each booking covers a single day. If you need a room for several consecutive days, you make separate bookings for each day. This gives you full flexibility - you can pick different hours on different days.

If you're planning a longer session, book in advance. Popular times (weekends, afternoons) fill up fastest.
