You received a damage report but believe it is unjustified? You have full right to dispute it. Here is how to do it effectively.
When to dispute a report
Most common reasons for disputing:
- The damage existed before your visit - you noticed the damage on arrival and have evidence (photos)
- You did not use the damaged equipment - e.g., the studio reports damage to a light you never used
- The estimated cost is inflated - the repair estimate seems unrealistic
- Lack of documentation - the studio did not attach photos or a detailed description
- The description does not match reality - your version of events differs from the studio's
How to dispute effectively
1. Read the report carefully
In the My Bookings tab, find the booking with the report. Read the description, review the studio's photos, note the estimated cost.
2. Gather your evidence
Most important:
- Photos from the start of your visit - showing the room condition before you started using it
- Correspondence with the studio - if you reported existing damage at the beginning, for example
- Photos from the end of your visit - if you took any
- Witnesses - if someone was with you (model, assistant)
3. Message the studio
Use the messaging system on the platform. Factually describe your version:
- What exactly happened (or did not happen)
- Why you are disputing the report
- What evidence you have
4. Attach evidence
Attach photos and other materials to your message. The more specifics you provide, the stronger your position.
Escalation to Booquela
If discussion with the studio does not lead to a resolution:
- Contact the Booquela support team
- Describe the situation and present your version
- Include all correspondence with the studio (it is archived in the system)
- The Booquela team will review documentation from both sides
- We will make a decision based on evidence - we strive to be impartial
What to avoid
- Do not ignore the report - no response is the worst strategy. Silence may be interpreted as acceptance
- Do not delete session photos - even if they seem useless, they may turn out to be evidence
- Do not attack the studio personally - focus on facts and arguments. Emotional messages do not help resolve the matter
- Do not contact the studio outside the platform - keep all communication in the Booquela messaging system so it is archived
The strongest argument in a damage dispute is photos of the room taken at the start of your visit. If you enter a studio and see existing damage - photograph it immediately and send a message to the studio. It takes 30 seconds and can save you a lot of trouble.
