Received a notification about a damage report and not sure what it means? Do not worry - it is not an automatic charge. It is the beginning of a clarification process in which you have full right to respond.
What a damage report is
A damage report is a document that a studio creates when they notice damage to equipment or room furnishings after your visit. The studio describes what was damaged, attaches photos, and provides an estimated repair or replacement cost.
What can be reported
Studios report damage to:
- Studio equipment - lights, backdrops, stands, softboxes
- Furniture and decor elements
- Floors, walls, or installations
- Electronic equipment - monitors, speakers, microphones
What a report contains
Each report has several elements:
- Damage description - specific information about what was damaged and how
- Photographic documentation - photos of the damage
- Estimated cost - preliminary repair or replacement estimate
- Date and time - when the damage was noticed
- Related booking - your booking after which the studio noticed the damage
What the report means for you
The report itself does not carry any automatic financial consequences. It is not an invoice or a demand for payment. It is the start of a conversation:
- The studio describes what they noticed
- You have the opportunity to respond and present your version
- Together (or with Booquela's help) a resolution is determined
More about the process can be found in the article about the damage report process. If you believe the report is unjustified, read the article about disputing a damage claim.
How much time does the studio have to file a report
The studio can file a damage report within a reasonable time after your visit ends. Reports appearing many weeks after a visit are treated with less credibility - the sooner the report, the easier it is to establish the circumstances.
Does the report affect my account
The report itself does not impose any restrictions on your account. You can continue booking other studios and using the platform without any issues. The report concerns only the specific booking where the studio noticed the damage.
Never ignore a damage report notification. No response does not make the matter disappear - on the contrary, it may be interpreted as acceptance of the claim.
