Room purpose and restrictions

How to describe room purpose and set restrictions, with examples for different studio types.

Updated 05.04.2026

What is it

Each room in Booquela has two optional fields:

  • Purpose - what the room is suited for (e.g., portrait sessions, podcast recording)
  • Restrictions - what clients cannot do in the room (e.g., no food, no pyrotechnics)

Both fields are visible on the public room page. They help clients quickly assess whether the room fits their needs.

How clients see it

Purpose

Displayed as colored pill badges in the main section of the room page. Clients see them right below the description - one of the first things they look at.

Restrictions

Appear as an amber warning box near the booking button. This ensures clients are aware of them before making a reservation.

How to add or edit

  1. Go to Owner Panel -> Rooms.
  2. Click Edit on the chosen room.
  3. Find the Purpose & Restrictions section.
  4. Click + Add to add a new item.
  5. Type the text and save the form.

You can add any number of items. To remove, click the X icon next to the item.

Good examples

Photography studio

Purpose: Portrait sessions, Product photography, Beauty photography, Business headshots, Portfolio shoots

Restrictions: No pyrotechnics, No animals (unless arranged in advance)

Podcast studio

Purpose: Podcast recording, Audio/video interviews, Webinars, Online meetings

Restrictions: No food in the recording area, No loud music (soundproofing has limits)

Music studio

Purpose: Vocal recording, Instrumental recording, Mixing and mastering, Music production

Restrictions: No drinks near the mixing console, Indoor shoes required

Film studio

Purpose: Commercial productions, Music videos, Social media content, Short films

Restrictions: Max 10 people on set, Custom set design requires prior approval, No smoke effects without prior agreement

Event space

Purpose: Photography workshops, Training sessions, Live shows, Small events up to 30 people

Restrictions: Quiet hours from 10 PM, No alcohol, Catering from partner list only

What to avoid

  • Vague descriptions - "Various sessions" says nothing. Be specific: "Portrait sessions", "Product photography".
  • Duplicating categories - if the room category is "portrait", don't write "Portrait studio" in purpose. Write about specific session types instead.
  • Long texts - purpose has a 100-character limit per item, restrictions 200. Keep it concise.
  • Negative tone in purpose - purpose should say what CAN be done, not what cannot. That's what restrictions are for.

Well-filled purpose helps clients find your room even if it doesn't appear in search filters. Clients often look for specific session types and scan room pages for them.
