Booquela offers three types of pricing modifiers. Each works differently and is suited for different situations.
Override
Completely replaces the base price with a new amount. The old price stops applying for hours covered by the modifier.
Example: Room costs 200 PLN/h. You set a New Year's Eve override: 500 PLN/h. A client booking December 31st pays 500 PLN per hour - the base price doesn't matter.
When to use:
- Special occasions and holidays (New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day)
- Seasons when you want an entirely different price
- Happy hours - e.g., override at 120 PLN/h during 8:00-10:00
Surcharge
Adds a fixed amount to the base price. A simple surcharge in currency.
Example: Room costs 200 PLN/h. Evening surcharge +50 PLN/h. A client booking after 18:00 pays 200 + 50 = 250 PLN per hour.
When to use:
- Surcharges for specific times (evenings, early mornings)
- Additional operational costs at certain times
- When you want to add a fixed amount regardless of the base price
Multiplier
Multiplies the base price by a percentage. You enter a percentage value - 120 means 120% of the base price (i.e., +20%), 80 means 80% (i.e., -20%).
Example: Room costs 200 PLN/h. Weekend multiplier 120%. A client booking on Saturday pays 200 x 120% = 240 PLN per hour.
When to use:
- Percentage weekend surcharges
- Seasonal increases or discounts
- When you want the surcharge to scale with the base price (more expensive rooms have higher surcharges)
Comparison with one example
Base room: 200 PLN/h
| Type | Setting | Final price |
|---|---|---|
| Override | 500 PLN/h | 500 PLN/h |
| Surcharge | +50 PLN/h | 250 PLN/h |
| Multiplier | 120% | 240 PLN/h |
Which one to choose?
- Want a completely different price for a given period? -> Override
- Want a fixed surcharge in currency? -> Surcharge
- Want a percentage change to the price? -> Multiplier
If an override and other modifiers apply at the same time, override has the highest priority - surcharge and multiplier are not applied for the same hours.
