When damage is serious enough that the room can't be used, the platform can automatically block it. This ensures no client books a damaged space and gets an unpleasant surprise.
When is a room blocked?
Automatic blocking activates when a damage report is marked as serious - the highest severity level. For minor and medium damage, the room stays available, since it's assumed you can still work in it despite the damage.
Example: after a visit, you discover the cyclorama floor is heavily scratched and unsuitable for product photography where a perfectly smooth surface matters. You create a report with "serious" severity - the platform blocks the room so nobody books it in its current state.
How does the block work?
- The block appears in the calendar as a special entry linked to the damage report
- The room disappears from search results - clients browsing the listing won't see it as available
- The block lasts indefinitely - until you manually remove it after the repair
Removing the block after repair
When the room is repaired and ready to accept clients:
- Go to Owner Panel -> Calendar
- Find the block linked to the damage report (it's highlighted with a distinct color)
- Remove the block or adjust its time range
- The room immediately returns to availability and appears in search results
What about existing bookings?
The block does not automatically cancel existing bookings - this is a safeguard against accidentally removing confirmed sessions. If the room is truly unusable and you have bookings during that period, you need to:
- Contact clients whose bookings fall within the block period
- Cancel those bookings with a full refund
- Offer an alternative room if possible
This requires manual work, but it gives you full control over client communication.
Can I manually block a room without a damage report?
Yes - room blocks work independently from damage reports. In the Calendar, you can manually create a block for any reason - renovation, private session, technical break. The automatic block from a damage report is just one use case.
After repairing the damage, don't forget to remove the block. As long as the block is active, the room won't appear in search results and can't be booked. The platform doesn't send reminders about active blocks, so it's worth checking regularly.
